Post  IROCDave Sat Apr 16, 2011 10:12 pm

I followed a link from LSx nation PNW section and was intitially hesitant to join / post. There are a lot of really quick cars in the PNW, and mine isnt one of them. Glad to see there is a place for average HP cars here that are owned by people that appreciate real modifications that bump HP.

My hobby car is a 1987 IROC that I bought in 1990. I made it respectable in the 90's with a ZZ4 350 short block, decent roller cam, TF heads, SLP headers / cat back, injectors etc, rebuilt 700r4 with a 2800 stall and alot of suspension parts. I was going to get rid of it in 2005 but my son popped it out of gear and it impaled itself into my wifes BMW 540i. Had it repaired and resprayed the whole car. Spent lots of hours putting the car back together and replaced every soft part, sticker, lite etc along the way. It is now one of the cleanest IROC's around. The current settup includes AFR 195 Eliminator heads and lump roller cam yet still retains the rare SLP T-Ram intake manifold.

The tune is crap and it really needs an after market computer but it is what it is. A clean IROC, not many around.

Ian, introduce yourself and your car.

Ians ride is bad....he treats it like a Civic but it is far from what most would consider a dailey driver. I blame it on youth lol!

Welcome Dave. I always liked the Iroc's. I had two of them back around 1990.

Laughing I'm still young enough to enjoy daily driving a harsh, obnoxious, cop magnet. Wouldn't be fun driving anything else!

You should get your blue beast out for some photographs this year, there is way too little coverage of it for how nice it is.

If we didn't have outings during crappy weather we'd only have gatherings a few weeks out of the year! Embrace the rain, I have a chamois for my seats so I'm good!

Ian isnt making that up either. His top was down for a couple hours before that picture was snapped. We were sitting at a Starbucks in Snohomish and it took several smart ass comments to get him to put the top up. While he was putting it up one of his buddies told the group about a trip to Oregon in the snow with the top down while wearing motorcycle helmets. Then several other guys mention that there is a particular speed that has to be maintaned to keep the rain off your face while riding with Ian.

Dont get me wrong, his car is really clean and looks striking. Big rims and brakes to back it up along with a 5.3 and 6 speed. It is worthy of a feature in a magazine. GM High Tech included it in ther readers rides.
